2017 Concordia Youth Football Camp

July 10 - 14, 2017

Austin Indoor Soccer Facility

2016-17 CHS 6-Man Football Family

2016-17 CHS 6-Man Football Family

For Middle School Flag Football and Tackle Football Players!

The camp will be run by CHS Head Football Coach Andy Cheshire, a certified USA Football “Heads Up Tackling” instructor.

The purpose of this camp is to provide an affordable opportunity for youth tackle and flag football players to begin developing 1) a technique-driven skill-set that will open doors for increased safe participation, and 2) a team-driven mindset that will encourage them to engage in greater sportsmanship.

We desire to provide an environment that emphasizes growth over outcomes; both physically and mentally. We believe that by learning in this way, football participants can gain greater opportunities to play the game safely, and to play the game with integrity.

Camp Schedule:

The CYFC will run from Monday, July 10th through Friday, July 14th. Coaches will arrive at 8:00am for field set-up and player registration. Students can be dropped off beginning at 8:00 am. On-field warm-ups will begin at 8:30am. Camp will conclude at 12:00pm each day, with the coaches remaining available to parents until 12:30pm. All campers need to be picked up no later than 12:30pm.

Coaches Clinic:

On Wednesday, July 12th, there will be an additional 3-hour clinic for youth and flag football coaches from 1-4pm. This clinic is designed for in-depth training to help coaches carry on the safety-first perspective of coaching technique. We will also have a discussions around player safety, sports nutrition, and training to reduce concussions. Additionally, it is an opportunity for youth and flag football coaches to hear from Varsity High School coaches on what skills and techniques will allow their players to transition well into higher levels of participation. There will be “chalk talk” sessions, on-field drills, and Q&A’s.

Camper Assessment:

One of the unique elements of this camp is that each camper receives a “Camper Assessment” from the coaching staff at the camp. The assessment will provide specific skills where the player can improve (and drills to improve them), and the skills and attributes where the camper excels. These assessments will help campers to be encouraged in their strengths, to understand that how much they improve is under their control, and to see the way they are often assessed by coaches.

Our Head Football Coach, Andy Cheshire, is certified through USA Football’s ‘Heads Up Tackling’ program. Campers will progress through the USA Football tackling system developed in conjunction with the Seattle Seahawks. It is the very latest in tackling technique for a safer game. All contact will be minimal, with actual force being used only against tackling dummies.

1. Can the parents stay to watch the camp?

YES! Austin Indoor Soccer has a bleacher section overlooking the field, so staying around to cheer on your camper is welcomed!

2. Does my camper need to be on a tackle football team to get something out of this camp?

No. Your camper can be on a tackle team or a flag football team. We teach each player multiple positions and emphasize the technique for every skill. Young players should focus on their overall development, and the camp is preparing them to play in either flag or tackle. Additionally, our hope is that these skills will also help participants to transition to high school level football as well.
