Mrs. Kristi Zumpano B.A.

Simply stated, Mrs. Zumpano answered her calling to give students the opportunities that her teachers gave her: rich experiences, support and challenges, plus straight talk with love.  Her teachers challenged her to lead, wrote original songs for her to sing and presented her with a wide variety of opportunities to discover and hone her talents. At Concordia, she loves the chances to put faith into practice through prayer, recall times when praying was the best answer when classes faced difficulty with a social issue or gaining composure before a test.

Winner of the 2002 statewide HEB Excellence in Teaching Award while teaching at the 2001 National Blue Ribbon School, Blanton Elementary, Mrs. Zumpano has served as a Teacher Trainer and Student Teacher Mentor.  She earned teacher Bilingual Teacher Certification through Region XIII, as well as a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned the Memorial Union Building Association’s Leadership Award.  Born in San Antonio, TX, her father’s Spanish language and business skills took her family first to Valencia, Spain where she learned Spanish by immersion and countless hours of studying at a Christian school. She was the only international student there besides her sister.  Later, her family moved to Caracas, Venezuela where she attended an international private school with students from all over the world.

She seeks to embody faith and joy in action, still challenging herself enough to stumble and get back up and to lead by example. She loves to hike, take pictures, dance, sing and cook.
