Shelly Guentzel: A Life Rooted in Family, Faith, and Service
Born in Iowa City, Iowa, Shelly Guentzel’s journey began in the heart of the Midwest. However, at the age of eight, her family relocated to the vibrant city of Austin, Texas, where she would spend her formative years. Shelly grew up in Austin, forging deep connections to the community that would later become such a significant part of her life. She now resides in Granger, Texas.
After graduating from high school, Shelly immediately entered the workforce, taking on clerical positions that laid the foundation for her career. Over the years, her dedication and work ethic led her to a role at Concordia High School (CHS), where she has now spent more than a decade. Starting her 12th year at CHS, Shelly has become an integral part of the school, known for her warmth, reliability, and commitment to the students and staff. In fact, her personal connection to the school is deepened by the fact that all three of her children—Calder, Seth, and Kailee—have attended Concordia Academy and Concordia High School, with her oldest, Calder, being part of the very first graduating class in 2002.
Family is the heart of Shelly’s world. She’s married, and together, they’ve raised three wonderful children. Outside of work, Shelly enjoys a wide variety of activities. She’s often found playing with her rescue dog, Jack, a loyal companion who has brought much joy to the family. Shelly is an avid reader, enjoys relaxing trips to the coast, and loves to watch her honorary grandson, Parker, compete in sports—a source of pride and joy for her.
Shelly’s faith is also a cornerstone of her life. She is an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she participates in the Bell Choir, using her musical talents to contribute to the church community. Her involvement in the Bell Choir reflects her deep commitment to service and fellowship, further enriching her connection to those around her.
Throughout her life, Shelly has maintained a strong sense of community and service, both in her professional and personal endeavors. Whether it’s through her role at CHS, her commitment to her family, her musical ministry at church, or her passion for spending time outdoors, Shelly continues to make a positive impact on the people around her.
In the years ahead, Shelly looks forward to continuing her work with CHS, spending more time with her family, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life—like a good book, a day by the water, or cheering on the next generation of athletes.
